Family Law Attorney

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with 4+ years of family law experience to join our growing legal team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who thrives in a litigation-focused environment, enjoys advocating for clients through challenging personal matters, and is committed to delivering exceptional legal representation.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving complex family law disputes, working closely with clients through every stage of the legal process. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full caseload of family law matters from initial consultation through final resolution.
  • Represent clients in divorce, legal separation, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, and other family law matters.
  • Handle contested custody disputes and complex divorce litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and develop effective case strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, discovery requests, legal memoranda, and other court filings.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Appear regularly in court for hearings, conferences, motions, and trials.
  • Negotiate favorable settlements while protecting clients' legal and financial interests.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and expert witnesses.
  • Deliver compassionate, strategic, and client-focused legal counsel throughout the legal process.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to practice law in Maryland and Washington, DC; Virginia Bar admission is a plus.
  • Minimum 4+ years of family law experience.
  • Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Experience handling contested custody and complex divorce matters.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and client relationship management abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to appear regularly in court.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional client service.
