Hydraulics & Powertrain Mechanic – Mining and Industrial Systems

Location: Detroit, MI | Primary support in the Dearborn area with work across multiple Michigan sites

Role Overview

Join a safety-driven team maintaining the heavy equipment that powers salt extraction and large-scale material handling. You’ll tackle diagnostics, mechanical rebuilds, hydraulic service, and electrical troubleshooting on high-demand assets to keep uptime at its peak.

Schedule & Compensation

• Shift: 3rd Shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM (overtime as needed)
• Pay: Up to $31.70/hour for 3rd shift, based on experience
• Employment Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Hire

About the Work Environment

Our partner supports heavy industrial, mining, and recycling operations and services critical load transfer, processing, and extraction equipment across automotive, construction, and materials industries. The team is recognized for its technical expertise, strong safety culture, and continuous equipment uptime.

Core Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain heavy mining/industrial equipment: cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, bulldozers, and drills
• Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble components using hoists, cranes, and appropriate tooling
• Welding/fabrication to address structural wear and breakage
• Preventive maintenance: fluid checks, lubrication service, hydraulic system inspection
• Diagnose and correct faults in electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (including 120/208/240/480V)
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM service manuals
• Operate equipment to verify repair quality and functionality
• Complete work orders, logs, and service reports accurately and on time
• Maintain safety standards and clean, organized work areas
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates on repair status and hazards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2–4 years of heavy equipment/diesel mechanic experience (industrial or mining preferred)
• Michigan Mechanic Certification in Diesel, Transmission, Hydraulic, or Electrical Systems (required)
• CAT SIS program experience (preferred)
• Proficiency in engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies; ability to meet OEM repair standards
• Familiarity with cranes, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and air compressors
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office and basic diagnostic software
• Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working extended shifts underground or outdoors year-round
• Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
