Position Overview:
The Illinois State Police (ISP) is seeking to fill the role of Internal Auditor I for the Office of the Director - Internal Audits. Under general supervision, the Internal Auditor I independently conducts internal audits of both simple and complex ISP programs to ensure compliance with applicable requirements. The position performs preliminary reviews prior to audit fieldwork, researching and identifying relevant state laws, administrative rules, statutory mandates, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Internal Auditor I prepares clear and comprehensive audit reports for supervisory review, summarizing audit results, identifying findings, and providing well‑supported recommendations for improvement. The role also represents the Internal Audit function in meetings with agency personnel and participates in ongoing professional education to maintain required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
