This position has primary responsibility for administering legislatively-named, competitive grant programs, and other programs throughout the state. The position is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned programs including annual program cycles, workflow coordination, auditing and compliance, and maintaining accurate records, systems, and process documentation. The position also supports the administration of other programs within the division and agency.
This posting will be used to fill two positions in the Grants and Workforce Initiatives division of the Office of Higher Education. One position will have primary responsibility for administering the Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury Grant and David J. Tomassoni ALS Research Grant programs. The other position will have primary responsibility for administering the Intervention for College Attendance Program.
Minimum Qualifications

Four years of professional experience administering public sector or government grants or contracts, federal or state student financial aid programs, and/or administering other comparable federal or state programs. Note: A bachelor's degree in education, public administration, public policy, or closely related field may substitute for one year minimum experience. A master's degree in education, public administration, public policy, or closely related field may substitute for two years of minimum experience.
Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following during the interview process:
Knowledge of grants administration, federal and state financial aid, or other similar program administration principles.
Knowledge of governmental budgeting and legislative processes sufficient to consolidate multiple program activities and to propose legislative initiatives to meet current and future program needs.
Proficiency in advanced Microsoft spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to provide presentations to individuals and groups, listen effectively, and write information in a clear, understandable manner.
Skill in adapting to continuous organization, legislative, and program changes, and to constructively work under pressure and cope with setbacks.
Ability to translate laws and regulations into program policies and procedures.
Ability to effectively and efficiently administer multiple different programs simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in either education, public administration, public policy, or closely related field.
Master's degree in education, public administration, public policy, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets over $100,000.
Experience administering grants related to healthcare research or college readiness and persistence.
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
Physical Requirements

Maintain a stationary position for long periods of time
Ability to carry up to 20 pounds of weight on an infrequent basis
