Job Description

Why the New Castle area?

Garfield County offers a rare mix of professional purpose and Colorado lifestyle. You can lead meaningful inpatient pharmacy operations in a close-knit hospital environment while living in a mountain community known for outdoor recreation, natural hot springs, skiing, hiking, rafting, and access to the Roaring Fork Valley.

For a pharmacy leader who wants advanced clinical work without the bureaucracy of a large system, this role offers the chance to make a visible impact in a community-focused setting where your decisions matter.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager to lead both operational and clinical pharmacy services within a small rural hospital setting that provides advanced patient care.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a PharmD who can balance medication distribution, clinical pharmacy support, regulatory compliance, staff development, and Epic Willow optimization. You will lead pharmacists and pharmacy technicians while helping ensure safe, efficient, evidence-based medication use across inpatient services.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving operational challenges, supporting clinical excellence, and building pharmacy processes that work in a real-world hospital environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead daily inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication distribution, sterile compounding, controlled substances, inventory, and automated dispensing systems
  • Support clinical pharmacy services across inpatient service lines and promote safe, evidence-based medication use
  • Ensure compliance with USP standards, Joint Commission expectations, and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Serve as a pharmacy lead for Epic Willow Inpatient workflows, including medication records, order routing, dispensing, inventory, reporting, and optimization
  • Lead medication safety initiatives, quality improvement efforts, adverse event reviews, and process improvement work
  • Supervise, coach, schedule, train, and develop pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Partner with nursing, providers, IT, quality, supply chain, and hospital leadership on medication-use processes
  • Provide hands-on operational or clinical support when needed during high-volume periods or staffing challenges

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not a role where you are removed from the work or buried in administrative layers. You will have true ownership over inpatient pharmacy operations, clinical support, Epic workflows, regulatory readiness, and team development.

For a pharmacy leader who wants to make a visible difference in a smaller hospital environment while living in one of Colorado's most desirable mountain regions, this is a compelling next step.

Requirements

  • PharmD required
  • Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing required
  • Hospital pharmacy experience required
  • Experience leading pharmacy operations and supporting clinical pharmacy services
  • Experience supervising or mentoring pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Strong regulatory knowledge, clinical judgment, communication skills, and teaching ability
  • BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association required
  • Ability to work on site in the New Castle/Glenwood Springs, Colorado facilities

What Will Set You Apart

  • Epic Willow Inpatient experience
  • Rural hospital pharmacy experience
  • Experience with sterile compounding, ADC optimization, medication safety, and clinical decision support
  • Comfort working in a resource-conscious environment where leaders stay hands-on
  • Interest in building strong cross-functional relationships with nursing, providers, IT, and hospital leadership

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $149,600 to $224,500
  • Annual bonus potential based on organizational and individual performance
  • Possible relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for eligible employees and dependents
  • Paid time off, paid family and medical leave, paid sick and bereavement leave, and additional leave options
  • Retirement plans with employer contributions and matching opportunities
  • Tuition assistance and employee assistance program
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible employer
  • Additional lifestyle perks may include transportation, wellness, and regional recreation benefits
